Happy National Grilling Month! Favorite BBQ Finds on a Dime.
Summer is here and we can finally fire up the grill! Celebrating National Grilling Month in July means keeping it clean and cool inside, more outdoor delicious fun, and the electric bill manageable all summer long! Unless you’re a die-hard steak fan you won’t even miss the expensive porterhouse or boneless chicken breast. Add flavorful and less expensive legs, thighs, and all-American burgers, franks, or bratwurst for a twist. Get creative with low-cost potato and pasta sides to keep large crowds happy and filled for even the most budget-conscious host.

Grilled Chicken Skewers
Fun to eat, healthy and a recipe everyone will love. Nothing is more fun than food on a stick, and you might even get the kids to eat veggies by adding summer squash, tomatoes, onions, and mushroom (technically a very healthy “fungi”). Try filing down the ends of the skewer or rounded-tip skewers for the little ones.

Ice-Cold Homemade Berry Lemonade
You can’t forget the perfect and most delicious cold beverage to complete your summer grill-out experience. This is one of our favorites! Adding a handful of mixed berries, lemon slices, and a dash of fruit juice adds healthy antioxidants

DIY BBQ Rubs, Marinades, and Sauces
What better way to save money than making your own rubs, sauces, and marinades? Fresh and customized to your taste with no preservatives. You probably have all or most of the spices in your spice rack. Most start with ketchup and tomatoes a staple in every fridge. It’s easy to mix a teaspoon of this and a teaspoon of that and with almost no cooking is the fastest and easiest recipe yet!

Grilled Bread Pudding
What better way to end the perfect grilling occasion but to serve a grilled dessert! This will make for interesting dinner conversation. The tin foil is the key here, but with a handful of the most basic and inexpensive ingredients: milk, bread, sugar, and eggs it makes it to the top of the “best picks” for budget-friendly desserts. What better way to use bread that is about to expire?
Recipe: Whisk 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl. Add 4 cups bread cubes and 1 cup berries; soak 30 minutes. Butter a sheet of nonstick foil and add the bread mixture; form a packet. Grill over indirect heat, turning a few times, 35 minutes. Whip some homemade whipping cream (heavy cream whipped with a dash of sugar and cinnamon if you please).
