Five Treats to Celebrate the Fourth
The Fourth of July is right around the corner! Get in the spirit to celebrate our freedom with these patriotic snack ideas. Have a tasty 4th of July with these red, white and blue treats!
Red, White and Bark!
Ingredients:
- White chocolate
- Red & blue candy
- Red & blue sprinkles
Melt 1 pound of white chocolate in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl. Pour melted chocolate into a cookie sheet that is covered in parchment paper. Sprinkle as much red & blue candy and sprinkles over the white chocolate as you’d like. Chill the chocolate mixture in the refrigerator. Remove once chilled then break chocolate apart to enjoy red, white and blue bark.
Hello Patriotic Jello!
Ingredients:
- Red jello
- Blue jello
- Whipped cream
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
Prepare red and blue jello separately according to instructions on jello packages. Pour jellos separately into clear containers until halfway full. Add blueberries to blue jello mixture and strawberries to the red jello mixture before putting containers into refrigerator to set. Once jello is firm, remove containers from refrigerator and top the jello with whipping cream. On top of the whipped cream put strawberries on top of blue jello and blueberries on top of the whipped cream of the red jello. These treats are almost too pretty to eat!
Fruity Fourth!
Ingredients:
- Blue chocolate candy melts
- White chocolate candy melts
- Strawberries
- Red and blue sprinkles
This is a patriotic twist on chocolate covered strawberries! In separate microwave safe bowls, melt 12oz of blue and 12oz of white chocolate candy melts. Dip fresh strawberries halfway into the white melted chocolate then chill in refrigerator. Once the white chocolate has hardened on the strawberries, dip the tip of those strawberries into the blue melted chocolate. Before the blue chocolate has hardened on the strawberries, dip into red and blue sprinkles.
Snap, crackle and POP!
Ingredients:
- Rice cereal
- Mini marshmallows
- Butter
- Red and blue food coloring
To make blue rice treats:
Melt 3 tbsp of butter in a pan then add 3 cups of mini marshmallows to the butter until the marshmallows are melted. Remove from heat and add 5-6 drops blue food coloring to marshmallow mixture. Mix together food coloring and marshmallows. Add 3 cups of rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture and mix together until all the cereal is covered in marshmallows. Pour mixture into a pan and chill in refrigerator.
To make red rice treats:
Repeat process above with fresh batch of ingredients but add red food coloring to the marshmallows instead of blue.
To make white rice treats:
Repeat process above with new set of butter, rice cereal, marshmallow but do not add any food coloring.
Place red, white then blue layers of rice treat on top of each other. Slice and enjoy!
Freedom Fruit Skewers
Ingredients:
- 1 pint of raspberries
- 1 pint of strawberries
- 1 package of mini marshmallows
On wooden skewers, thread 1 raspberry, 1 blueberry and 1 marshmallow until the skewer is full. It’s easy to serve up this tasty and patriotic treat!
