Can You Get a Title Loan Without a Title?

At TitleMax®, we aim to work with our customers to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved. We offer car or motorcycle title loans and pawn services. Our online application process is fast and is generally completed in as little as 30 minutes. We do require that loan applicants be at least 18 years old (19 if residing in Alabama) and be able to provide proof of income and a government-issued ID. Proof of income is not limited to income from employment and may also include disability, retirement, or unemployment income. For auto title loan or pawn services, a vehicle and the vehicle’s title are also required to be approved for a loan.

Car Title Loans without Clear Title Paperwork or Titles With Liens

We receive a lot of questions about our loan services, and one of the most frequently asked questions we receive is, “Can you get a title loan without a title?” While we do offer auto title loans, we are unable to provide title loans without a clear title. Those wishing to receive a car title loan must provide a title that is free of liens. A lien-free vehicle means that the car (or other vehicle) must be owned outright by the person wishing to obtain the loan, with no debts surrounding the vehicle. If there are multiple names listed on the title as owners, further information may be required to determine if all parties must be listed as applicants on the title loan application. In most instances, we are also able to provide assistance to those who currently have other outstanding title loans on their vehicle. We provide assistance by refinancing the previous title loan and providing a possibly lower rate with a TitleMax® title loan.

Title Loan without Title Information

Car title loans without clear title paperwork cannot be approved by TitleMax®. Likewise, a car or other vehicle that is brought in for a potential title loan without title information cannot be approved for title loans. Without title paperwork, we are unable to verify the legal owner of the vehicle or ensure that the car is lien-free, which complicates the loan process. Those who own a vehicle without any liens, yet have misplaced the title paperwork, should seek to obtain a replacement from their local DMV before applying for a TitleMax® title loan. Most DMV locations provide this service and often include information on their websites on which type of information is needed to complete the process.

Applying for a Title Loan with TitleMax®

For those wishing to apply for a TitleMax® title loan with a lien-free title, the process is simple. The amount that can be loaned is dependent upon the current value of the vehicle’s appraisal. At a TitleMax® location, we will perform a quick appraisal of the vehicle while the applicant completes the loan application. Upon determining the value of the vehicle and being approved for the loan, the applicant must hand over the title of the vehicle to receive the cash loan. Unlike other auto title loan services, at TitleMax®, we understand the importance of being able to continue using the vehicle after receiving a title loan. As we are here to assist in difficult times, we enable our clients to continue using the vehicle throughout the entire loan period. The borrower simply continues using the car while making payments on the loan. When the balance of the loan is repaid in full, the title is then returned to the owner. This option minimizes inconveniences that may be experienced with other types of auto title loans that prevent clients from utilizing their vehicle during the loan period.

As we strive to assist everyone with their loan needs, Title Loan and Pawn Applications are available both at our 1100 + convenient TitleMax locations, as well as online. The application process is hassle-free and does not require perfect credit. TitleMax® is here to help you get the cash you need when you need it.
